Sharon Hoekstra's Letter of Introduction:

I am in my twenty somethingth year of teaching kindergarten. I am still having too much fun to find something else to do just yet...  Over these many years, I have taught kindergarten in several schools in south Edmonton: Duggan, Sweet Grass, Ormsby, McKee and Earl Buxton. The current school year is my ninth year at Earl Buxton. The children are a wonderful group of 21, including 12 girls and 9 boys. One child is multiple handicapped and has a full time aide who signs for her. One child has limited use of English as a second language. No classroom aide is provided this year. The children in my class are from middle and upper middle class homes with most having two parent families and most living in relatively new single family homes in Riverbend. Currently Earl Buxton has three classes of kindergarten each with 21 children. The other kindergarten teacher is so like-minded that I feel she knows what I am thinking before I have said it. Normally I can count on one or two parent volunteers each day in my class, although two or three days in a month no one might sign up to help. (We have a voluntary sign up calendar each month). My principal is most supportive of just about everything I want to do - I feel I have her complete backing.
